Longevity Tomato Tonic
Who knew, cherry tomatoes, rich in fiber, also contain even more antioxidants and lycopene than a large vine tomato. Antioxidants help protect your cells against free radicals, while lycopene helps prevent breast and prostate cancer, reason enough to celebrate life with this festive drink.
What you need:
1 pint non-gmo or organic cherry tomatoes
6-8 drops hot sauce per taste
1/3 - 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce - I use Annies organic
Splash of fresh squeeze lime and lemon juice to taste
1/4-tsp. celery powder
Pinch unheated sea salt
Pinch or two smoked paprika
Pinch fresh ground black pepper
Pinch turmeric spice
1 stalk organic celery with leaves
Green olives
Peperoncini pepper
Fermented pickle spear
Fermented pickles are a probiotic rich food contributing to good gut health. Fermented pickles are found in the refrigerator section and do not contain any vinegar which would destroy the probiotic rich cultures.
Instructions:
Blend cherry tomatoes well and strain, add hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, splash lime and or lemon, small dash celery powder, black pepper, turmeric and smoked paprika to taste.
Rim of Glass - blend pinch celery powder, paprika and sea salt on cutting board or small plate. Rub lime around rim of glass, then, twist rim of glass in the spice mixture to cover evenly.
Pour mixture into 1 tall glass or 2 smaller glasses and garnish with celery stalk, olives, pepperoncini pepper, and pickle spear.
Cooks Note:
Thread olives on a wood toothpick or kabob stick. I like to cut the end of the pepper allowing the juice to run into the drink. I used veggie broth ice cubes that I had on hand. When I make my veggie broth, I freeze it in ice cube trays to use later in recipes or a sauté.
